Trail Conditions

The Eastern Trail Alliance periodically updates this page with trail alerts, conditions, and reports. Our small team relies on trail users to share their trail observations and report problems by filling out this form. Trail conditions are always subject to change, be alert and use caution while on the trail.

Please visit our Trail Maps page for full trail information.

All Areas:

Updated January 28, 2026 (12:45 PM)

Due to recent snowfall and fluctuating temperatures, trail surfaces are snow-covered—12 inches or more in some areas—with ice underneath. Snowshoes are highly recommended. Please use caution, and enjoy the snow!

Scarborough:

Updated February 27, 2026 (10:32 AM)

Current status: Last snow groom was 2/27/2026, 10:32 AM.

Reported December 2025: Snow grooming on the Eastern Trail in Scarborough is managed and implemented by Scarborough Community Services. While we do not control when, where, or how grooming occurs, we will share status updates with the community as soon as we receive them. We are grateful to Scarborough Community Services for piloting occasional snow grooming this winter between the Black Point Road and Pine Point Road parking lots. Please check back here and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the most up-to-date information on trail conditions and grooming status.

Saco:

Updated March 3, 2026 4:45 PM

Please use caution when walking on the Eastern Trail in this area for the foreseeable future. The fence has been damaged, creating open exposure to I-195. Dog owners are reminded to follow the Trail’s leash law at all times.

Reported March 3, 2026, 3:55 PM: Just before 4:00 p.m., we received reports of a U-Haul truck stuck on the Eastern Trail. It appears that while traveling eastbound on I-195, the U-Haul crashed into the fence separating the Eastern Trail from the I-195 spur, resulting in a temporary closure of the eastbound spur. The vehicle has been removed and I-195 East has reopened.

Biddeford:

To travel northbound using the ET on-road, please follow these cues (route shown in green on the map):
